Overview of the REDI Initiative
On October 16, 2026, the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) announced the launch of a new round of the Regional Economic Development through Immigration (REDI) initiative. This initiative will run until the end of 2027 and aims to allocate nomination spaces to selected partner communities in Ontario that have a critical need for newcomer talent.
Participating Communities
The REDI initiative focuses on communities such as Greater Sudbury, Kenora District, Nipissing District, Rainy River District, Renfrew County, and Thunder Bay. These areas have demonstrated a strong potential for immigration uptake, which includes economic diversification and support services for newcomer integration.
What this may mean for applicants
For skilled foreign workers looking to immigrate to Ontario, the REDI initiative provides a valuable pathway to permanent residence. Applicants must meet the eligibility requirements of the OINP to be considered for nomination under this initiative.
