Overview of the Ontario Workforce Priority Stream
As of August 4, 2026, the Ontario Workforce Priority Stream has officially launched its new Expression of Interest (EOI) portal. This follows the closure of eight previous streams on June 25, 2026, as part of a redesign of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). The new stream aims to streamline the immigration process for skilled workers in Ontario.
Eligibility Criteria
The Ontario Workforce Priority Stream introduces pathways for candidates based on the National Occupational Classification (NOC) TEER categories. Specifically, there are pathways for TEER 0–3, which require a permanent full-time job offer in Ontario, along with relevant skills, work experience, language proficiency, and educational qualifications. TEER 4–5 candidates are also defined under separate criteria. Additionally, self-employed physicians can apply under special conditions without needing a job offer.
What this may mean for applicants
For prospective immigrants and employers, it is crucial to review the official requirements for the new Ontario Workforce Priority Stream. Registering an EOI does not guarantee an invitation or nomination, so understanding the eligibility criteria is essential for a successful application.
